INTRODUCTION FOR GROUPS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WORK ENVIRONMENT
About the work environment in the magistrate for children in Aarhus
The magistrate for children in Aarhus has about 14.000 employees. To the magistrate is all public schools and children daycare connected. And they are divided into eight different geographic areas connecting to an area manager. Every two years a survey is made of the psychological work environment at every local workplace.
The study is developed by the national survey for the work environment and is build up by the understanding of ”social capital.”
At the workplace, the leader is the responsible, and the employees have their representative, we call them ”working groups.”
After the survey the working group has to make a priority by choosing themes, they want to work with.
USING THE FOUR ROOMS IN AN AREA FOR GROUPS WORKING WITH THE WORK ENVIRONMENT
The background for our work. Our goal in general
We find the Four rooms of changes could supply the traditional thinking by the understanding of different approaches to life, understanding the rooms and the movements.
E.g.: very often people, in general, think that a workplace with a ”red”/bad survey is a bad work environment. But the survey showing red might be because people are in confusion necessary for going to inspiration. In the same way as a very ”green survey” might be because everybody is so content, that nothing happens.
We made an introduction to the four rooms for the 8 area managers in the magistrate. After that one of them asked us to do it with all her leaders and then with all the groups working in the work environment.
The goal was the opportunity to get a shared understanding of different approaches to life, the rooms and movements connected to the themes; the groups choose to work with from the survey.
What we did
We made the introduction for 90 people and after that, we established sparring groups. The sparring groups had the task to help each other connecting their themes in the understanding of the four rooms.
A lot of themes were connected and on the next meeting experiences were shared.
After that we had a meeting with all the leaders and the area manager talking about how we could take the next step with the four rooms, e.g. connecting to changes of culture in our organization.
